FAQ

Physical Therapy

I am injured and looking for a physical therapist. How does the process look like at Counter Force Physical Therapy?

We start off with a short 30 minute complimentary injury screen. We use this to determine the need for physical therapy or emergency services. If patient is appropriate for physical therapy, we will need a referral from a primary care physician and we can begin the initial evaluation which takes 60-90 minutes. We are willing to discuss your needs with your primary care physician if needed.

I am not-injured and looking for a physical therapist for injury prevention services. How does the process look like at Counter Force Physical Therapy?

Since injury prevention and health maintenance are wellness services, we do not need a referral to proceed.

Do you accept insurance?

We do NOT accept insurance and are considered an out-of-network provider with ALL insurance companies. We do this to maintain a high quality of care. You will work 1-on-1 directly with a physical therapist. If you have out-of-network benefits with your health insurance we will provide you will all of the documentation needed to turn into your insurance company for reimbursement. Therefore payment is due at the time of service. We are a fee-for-service clinic and accept cash, checks, Flex, HSA, FSA and all major credit cards.

How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits (OONB)?

This is easy! All you have to do is call your insurance company and ask them if your plan includes OONB. If you do have out of network benefits ask your insurance company the following questions:

  • Do I have an OON deductible?
  • Have I met my deductible for the year? If not how far away am I from meeting the deductible?
  • Is there paperwork that must be filled out when submitting the out of network claims? If so do you provide that paperwork?
  • Do I need to be pre-certified for physical therapy sessions in order to receive reimbursement?
Can you come to my home? Do you bring any equipment? How much space do I need?

Yes, we offer in-home physical therapy services by appointment only. Prior to your physical therapy session, we recommend giving us a call so we can figure out your specific needs. We can bring equipment if necessary. Typically, patients need enough space to exercise and/or lay down. We can bring a portable treatment table if needed.

What is the first step to get started with personal training?

Calling (312-852-6570) to schedule the complementary fitness assessment would be the most important and crucial step prior to beginning training.

What happens during the fitness assessment?

You meet with a personal trainer to go over your personal fitness goals, get your baseline measurements, learn about the variety of nutrition and exercise programs that we offer, and develop a timeline for you to achieve your goals.

We will use your measurements to create a customized meal plan. Towards the end of the assessment we will also do a physical assessment to see if there are any deficits in flexibility, strength, coordination, agility, and functional movements. Using our graded assessment we will construct a workout plan that focuses on improving those weaker areas.

Will we re-assess my progress after beginning training?

Yes, we schedule “progress checks” about a month after beginning our training program to make sure you are headed in the right direction. After starting you off on the right foot we schedule progress checks every 2-3 months thereafter. We take weight, body fat percentage, and tape measurements of the waist, hips, thighs, chest/back, and arms.

What if I have never exercised before?

No worries! The most important session for you will be the fitness assessment because we will assess how you move to ensure safety when programming your future workouts. Our top priority is client safety. We will never make you do any exercises that might cause you harm.

What is the trainer’s availability?

Every personal trainer is different. Generally, as a whole, our training hours are everyday 5AM to 10PM. There are some trainers who prefer early morning hours and some trainers who prefer to work only in the evenings. Some trainers even work weekends! It’s very individualized per trainer so it is best to call (773-510-4312) or email (info@chitowntrainer.com) us for more information.

How many times per week is personal training recommended?

On average, most clients train about 3x per week. Most clients choose their training frequency based off of their goals and availability.

Will I have the same personal trainer each session?

We recommend sticking with the same personal trainer. This way, they are able to learn your strengths and weaknesses and progress your program at an appropriate rate.

Additionally, it has been shown to relieve depression and anxiety!

How often do I need a massage?

Think of once a month as your baseline. Times of extra physical or mental stress may call for more frequent sessions. Finding time can seem difficult when life is extremely busy, but it’s an investment that will pay off by helping you maintain your pre-stress levels of health and wellness. If you want the maximum benefit, twice a month to one time per week is really optimal.
